Too often our work of mission to the world perpetuates systems of injustice and even oppression in ways that we are unaware and lack true knowledge to understand. We operate from a heart filled with good intentions recognizing our blessings and desiring to share them with others. Yet, our good intentions can be the “kindest way to destroy people.” As we begin to dream and create a vision around Joshua House, we are inviting the entire parish into study and discussion about how we become better neighbors to the Garden District and beyond. It is our hope you will read the book Toxic Charity and participate in one of three church wide discussion opportunities in the Easter season. Check the eTower and stay tuned for more information on meeting dates and how you can be a part of re-imaging mission at the Church of the Ascension.
